Cotton Treasures – Quilting
Cotton Treasures, a unique quilt making shop, located at 218 E Main St in Senatobia Mississippi, is owned and operated by Chantay Rhone.
Chantay’s adventure with Cotton Treasures began 13 years ago when she became a stay-at-home mom after her second child was born. Her mother and grandmother were sewers so, wanting to feel productive in her downtime, Chantay began researching the art of quilting.
Her mother sent her home with her grandmothers sewing machine and Chantay immediately began studying how to make great quilts.
There were failures in the beginning but it wasn’t long before her hard work and dedication began to pay off in a big way, honing her craft and art. Chantay began producing some very beautiful work and grew a faithful customer base.
“Cotton Treasures was never meant to be a quilt store, or retail store. It was born out of the love of the art. I was able to find ways to make money by doing it home. I made T-shirt quilts, memory quilts, that sort of thing…”
As she began to grow her customer base, Chantay and her husband decided it was time to open a store. Chantay is a long-arm quilter and her store really shows off her skill with her craft and her love of the art.
Cotton Treasures – Quilting – An Art Form
“One of my loves is teaching young people to sew, introducing the art to those who aren’t familiar with it. I love teaching quilting and introducing new techniques to even long time quilters. As we grow I would like to take that tradition of quilting and get the younger generation involved in it. It’s not a dying art, it may be a changing art, but not a dying art. Whatever I can do to help that is what I would like to do.”
If you are looking for something special, unique, or maybe something that accents your home then Cotton Treasures is for you. Perhaps you’re a quilter and are looking for people who share your interests then Chantay is the person to see.
